Vitamin E acetate is a synthetic vitamin E derivative. From the clear and odorless liquid, which is not soluble in water, the actually effective vitamin E is only released enzymatically on the skin. Vitamin E acetate is therefore not as effective as vitamin E. On the other hand, it is much more stable against atmospheric oxygen and higher temperatures. Nevertheless, vitamin E acetate should also be stirred into the cooled emulsion first.
 
Its spectrum of action and area of application are essentially identical to those of vitamin E. However, vitamin E acetate is unsuitable as an antioxidant in oils.
