The light yellow rice germ oil is obtained by extraction from the rice bran. It is refined and almost odorless. The fatty acid pattern of the very well-tolerated base oil has a high proportion of oleic acid (40-50 %) and linoleic acid (20-42 %). Rice germ oil is very well absorbed and is suitable for all skin types - but especially for sensitive and irritated skin. Its high content of tocopherols, phytosterols, and gamma-oryzanol gives rice germ oil its high oxidative stability and predestines it for use in sun protection and day care products. Especially since gamma-oryzanol has a natural UVA and UVB absorption capacity, rice germ oil is a good complement to physical sunscreen filters.
