Natrosol 250 HX is a nonionic, Ecocert-certified hydrocolloid that can be used to produce clear, viscous hydrogels. It is also suitable for stabilizing or thickening O/W emulsions. To do this, Natrosol 250 HX is first dispersed in alcohol or glycerin and then mixed with the appropriate amount of water while stirring. However, in formulations containing surfactants, Natrosol 250 HX should be avoided in favor of Xanthan Transparent.

0.8–1.5% in hydrogels
 
0.2–0.5% in O/W emulsions
