Lanolin is obtained from the sheep's wool. It is pesticide-free. The anhydrous lanolin is insoluble in water and melts at 40 °C. Its emulsifying and caring effect is mainly based on the wool wax alcohol, which is present in the lanolin to about 10%. Used as an emulsifier or co-emulsifier in W/O emulsions, it is a traditional skincare agent for wound ointments, baby care, and care creams for stressed skin.

Lanolin is melted in the oil phase.
