The environmentally friendly conditioner EQ 65 is an esterquat combined with the consistency enhancer cetearyl alcohol and is therefore in the form of easy-to-handle white pellets.
Esterquats are quaternary ammonium compounds that are linked to high-purity stearic acid via 2 easily hydrolyzable ester bonds. On the one hand, this structure results in very good biodegradability, but on the other hand, it is also recommended to adjust the formulation to a pH value of 4.0 - 4.5. Above pH 5, the conditioner tends to hydrolyze (chemical degradation).
The sustainable manufacturing process (lower energy consumption, less waste) and the fact that the conditioner EQ 65 is much easier to rinse out of the hair (= lower water consumption) complete the ecological advantages of ester quats compared to conventional alkyl quats (e.g. behentrimonium chloride, cetrimonium chloride).
The conditioning properties of Conditioner EQ 65 are very similar to those of the highly efficient Behentrimonium chloride; in particular, combability, handle, and manageability are improved. However, Conditioner EQ 65 delivers this conditioning performance in a much more environmentally friendly way.
However, Conditioner EQ 65 is also suitable as a cationic emulsifier for O/W emulsions.
