Cocamidopropyl Betaine PLUS is a coconut oil-based—and therefore palm oil-free—amphoteric surfactant that is highly compatible with other surfactants. This pale yellow liquid contains 38–40% active surfactant matter and is preservative-free. Gentle on the skin and mucous membranes, Cocamidopropyl Betaine PLUS is used as both a primary and co-surfactant, offering good foaming and cleansing properties. Viscosity increases when it is combined with anionic surfactants at a slightly acidic pH. Typically, Cocamidopropyl Betaine PLUS is used in combination with an anionic surfactant at a ratio of 1:3 to 1:4 (based on active surfactant content). It is widely used in shampoos, shower gels, and bubble baths. Particularly at a slightly acidic pH, Cocamidopropyl Betaine PLUS provides a conditioning effect, making hair easier to comb. It is readily biodegradable and highly suitable for natural cosmetics.
