The co-emulsifier Cetearyl Alcohol is composed of half cetyl alcohol and half stearyl alcohol. Cetearyl Alcohol gives cosmetic formulations consistency and stability. At the same time, Cetearyl Alcohol imparts a pleasantly refatting and moisture-retaining texture to the formulations. Compared to cetyl alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol is characterized by a higher substantivity. In hair care products, this is reflected in better-wet combability. The ivory-colored pastilles are oil-soluble and are incorporated via the fat phase. 
Cetearyl Alcohol is 100% vegetable and very biodegradable.
