Allantoin, known from comfrey and horse chestnut, is recommended in skin and sun care products and shaving lotions thanks to its anti-inflammatory effect on dry and irritated skin.
 
The allantoin is synthetically produced. The highly effective but very well-tolerated allantoin should be used at a concentration of 0.1 to 0.5%. Allantoin is incorporated by dissolving the white powder in warm water and stirring it into the finished still-warm emulsion.
 
Please note that allantoin is only stable up to 80°C.
