The lactic acid is present here as an 80% aqueous solution. The pH value is below 1.8. The organic acid belongs to the group of alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids (AHA), which are widely used as active ingredients in fruit acid peelings. However, lactic acid is mainly used to regulate pH and as a humectant. Lactic acid also occurs in the hydro-lipid film of the skin. There it binds moisture and stabilizes the pH value of the skin's acid mantle. To protect it, skin care emulsions should be pH-neutral. This means that the emulsions are adjusted to a pH of 5.0-5.5, i.e. also slightly acidic. In addition, some agents suitable for preservation, such as Rokonsal BSB-N or Dermosoft 1388 ECO, are only effective at a pH below 5.5.
 
Please remember that the adjustment of the pH value completes the production of the care product. Please be careful with the dosage and add the lactic acid to the emulsion only drop by drop to adjust the pH value. Please wear protective goggles. 
 
Application concentration: 
0.5-1% as an active ingredient in care products; in higher concentrations, lactic acid can be irritating to the skin.
