Cetyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol of vegetable origin that is used as a co-emulsifier in O/W emulsions. The white pellets are oil-soluble and are melted in the oil phase. As a co-emulsifier, Cetyl Alcohol stabilizes the emulsion and, depending on the amount used, gives it more consistency and smoothness. A dosage between 0.5 and 3% is recommended, although concentrations around 3% are sometimes already too high and dull the emulsion.
