Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil Palm Oil Free (Viscolid) is based on rapeseed oil. The beige/white powder has a melting point of about 60°C and is a very efficient thickener of oils. It can transform liquid oils into soft and creamy textures. The resulting product shows up as a pleasant, soft oil paste that, without smearing and dripping, can be easily applied to the skin. It can be used in a jar or pump dispenser. Since Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil Palm Oil Free (Viscolid) does not affect the sensory properties of oils, it is ideal for massage oils. The thickening effect is based on a network of lipid crystals that melts on contact with the skin, turning the gel back into a liquid oil. The sensory profile of such a massage oil gel (body oil gel or face oil gel) is determined exclusively by the oils used. Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil Palm Oil Free (Viscolid) is easy to use.
 
Processing:
At a temperature above 60°C, it is simply melted in the oil or oil mixture until it becomes a clear solution. The oil mixture is then allowed to cool with moderate stirring until the clear solution becomes cloudy. At about 35°C, the oil mixture is briefly homogenized at high speed. The oil is then left to stand until the gel has formed. To improve the thermal stability of such an oil gel, it is recommended to add a "pinch" of silica, wax, or butter. 
 
In addition, Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil Palm Oil Free (Viscolid) can be used to stabilize W/O emulsions. The recommended amount is simply added to the oil phase.
